Rabies Prevention in Ukraine: U-Hearts Foundation’s Life-Saving Mission

Our program has launched a new initiative to counter the spread of rabies and other animal diseases in Ukraine. The ongoing war has led to a significant increase in cases of rabies, especially in the frontline areas, where regular veterinary care is hardly available.

Thanks to our volunteers, our organization is working to provide vaccinations to groups which often cannot afford to fund them: animal shelters, homeless animals, and pets of the internally displaced persons. Our first project to provide microchips and free vaccinations against rabies and other canine and feline diseases was launched on May 9.

This combined approach will help not only protect the pets from diseases, but also significantly increase their chances of returning to their families in case of loss.

In these photos, you can see the first pets who have already undergone the vaccination and microchipping under our Safe Paws project.
